Lahore : Patron-in-chief of Pakistan Hindu Council Dr. Ramesh Kumar Vankwani has said that celebration of Holi reminds the symbolic great victory of good over evil. He was exchanging his views on the occasion of colorful celebrations of Holi festival at Lok Virsa, Islamabad.
Dr Ramesh Vankwani said that the ancient Hindu religious Holi festival, which is also known as the spring festival, the festival of colors or the festival of love, is no longer limited to Hindu community but also being celebrated widely across the world, including Pakistan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and western countries.
“Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will participate to the Holi festival on Tuesday in Karachi,” he informed, adding that this will be first ever participation by any Pakistani Prime Minister in the Holi to promote interfaith harmony across the country. Patriot Hindu community is looking forward to welcome their beloved Prime Minister, Dr Ramesh further said.
“The purpose behind for celebrating Holi festival is to promote the common basis of ‘Love of God and Love of the Neighbour, Love of the Good and Love of the Neighbour’ among all religions,” Dr Ramesh said.
He further informed that Pakistan Hindu Council, in connection with the Holi festival, is also organizing an annual combined marriages program for the hundred poor couples on Sunday (March 19) at YMCA Ground, Karachi. On the occasion, Raksha-distribution ceremony for poor deserving Hindu citizens will also be held, while Sewing Machines will be distributed among needy women. President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz are also invited to grace the ceremony, Dr Ramesh said.
