Ex-servicemen met in Mandi Bahauddin

Mandi Bahauddin (Sher Gondal) : Ex-servicemen and their widows, on Friday, in a meeting with District President Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society (PESS) raised points about problems and difficulties relating their welfare and pension. They complained that Deputy Director District Armed Services Board Gujrat (DDDASB) had stopped attending DASB Camp Office Mandi Bahauddin and because of this cases of their pension were being delayed. Payment of their arrears was also not being made in time, they added. Two windows whose husbands died a few months ago complained that cases of their pension had not been finalized due to which they were facing financial hardships. They further said they had visited DASB Gujrat to pursue their cases and spent lot of money and time on travelling.

They requested for finalization theirs pension cases on priority basis. They also demanded DDDASB Gujrat should visit Mandi Bahauddin on weekly basis for addressing their problems. In certain cases they have to make more than one trip just for getting documents attested which they could hardly afford, they added.

Addressing the meeting the President PESS Sher Gondal said that Director General Pakistan Armed Services Board had been requested in writing to arrange establishment of separate DASB for Mandi district. He was also requested to direct DDDASB Gujrat to attend DASB Camp Office on weekly basis to resolve problems of serving and retired soldiers and the windows to save them from undergoing inconvenience of long travelling.

On request of PESS, Deputy Commissioner had also written a letter to DG PASB Rawalpindi for taking measures to resolve ex-servicemen and the widows’ problems.
