Mandi Bahauddin ; the court sent former MNA Ijaz Ahmad Ch to jail

Mandi Bahauddin (Sher Gondal): District and Sessions Judge Nisar Ahmed Rana has sentenced three-year jail term to former MNA Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry by  on Friday . Ijaz was arrested in the court premises and was shifted to District Jail Mandi Bahauddin. He was also handed a penalty worth Rs 5,000.

PML-N leader Mumtaz Ahmad Tarar, runner up in NA 108 during general elections 2013 had sought disqualification of Ijaz Chaudhry on multiple grounds of submitting fake degree and concealing facts while filing nomination papers with returning officer.

After listening to both the parties, the election commission declared Ijaz disqualified. Ijaz went in appeal and the SC upheld verdict of the election commission. The election commission after finalization of proceedings referred the case to The District Sessions Judge for trial of Ijaz for submitting fake graduation degree with nomination papers.

The judge summoned the accused and after hearing arguments from prosecution and the defense awarded three years imprisonment and Rs 5000 as penalty to the convict.

Ijaz Chaudhry had fought NA 108 election in 2013 as independent candidate and later joined PML-N. He again changed his loyalties and joined PTI. At present he is member core group of PTI.
