Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif inaugurates Metro Bus in Multan

Lahore : Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday inaugurated the Metro Bus Service in Multan aimed at providing the best and comfortable transport facilities to the local people.

The Prime Minister unveiled the plaque of the project,completed with a cost of Rs 28 billion. The Prime Minister took a test ride of the bus along with Punjab’s Governor Rafiq Rajwana and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif from Chongi No.9 to Bahauddin Zekria University.

During the ride, the Prime Minister was given a briefing about the bus service.

The event was attended by Minister for Food Security Sikandar Bosan, Mayor of Multan Naveed ul Haq Arain, Chairman District Council Dewan Abbas Bukhari, parliamentarians and diplomats. The Metro Bus Project in Multan is the country’s third and South Punjab’s first mass transit system.

He visited Metro Bus station and appreciated the Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif for completing the project in just a 18 months.He said Multan is developing,those who want to see a new Pakistan ,are invited to come and visit Multan,the PM Nawaz Sharif added.

Addressing the ceremony , The Prime Minister has said that the inauguration of Multan Metro Bus Project is the milestone in the progress and development of South Punjab and a modern transportation system has been introduced to provide more and more facilities to the people.

 

He said that only those nations in the world make progress which has latest transportation facilities, best quality roads and bridges. He said that the country will make progress when the people will be able to reach their workplaces in time.

He said we faced harsh criticisms when we had launched the Lahore Islamabad Motorway Project in the 90s but now these critics travel on the same mega project. He said a network of development projects has been set up in Pakistan .

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that the development projects launched across the country during the period 2008-2013 .

He said all the development projects in the country are the true examples of transparency and the best quality whether they are power projects or metro bus projects. Federal Government has given hundred percent funds for the green line project in Karachi.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that those people whose corruption has been established in apex courts of the country are now trying to hide their corruption in the Panama case in the Supreme Court and these are the people who have plundered the country mercilessly. He said only God knows what will the Supreme Court decide about the Panama Case but those whose corruption has been established in the courts will also have to face the court of justice. He said that if the noose is tightened around only a handful of people, it will be beneficial for the people of Pakistan.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said an amount of Rs. 28 billion has been spent on the 18 KM long Metro Bus Project, out of this amount Rs. 4.5 Billion have been spent on the land acquisition and the government has made best payments to the land owners and government is determined to providing maximum to its people while in the past periods the people were robbed of their assets and they were made penniless and this is the difference between the govt. of Nawaz Sharif and Past governments.

He said the first phase of the Multan Metro Bus Project has been completed while the second phase will be started shortly and every possible effort will be made to complete it in the current year.

The Chief Minister badly criticized those who obstructed development and progress in the country and said for the three and a half years the country has to face the worst sit-ins. He said those who held sit-ins were not sincere with the people of Pakistan and they wanted to collapse the country and they have wasted over a one and a half year of the country. He said that organizers of sit-ins had no sympathies with the poor and at the same time the poor had no links with them and these people only wanted to get political benefits. He said that lockdowns and sit-ins have been buried ones and for all by the grace of Allah Almighty and the favour of the people.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said if the corruption of even a single penny is proved in the development projects carried out under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, then I will take responsibility for it and I make the whole gathering of this ceremony witness to my claim.

He said he will be responsible if corruption of single penny proved. He said the volleys of corruption allegations are a routine matter and the factories churning out the corruption allegations are working day and night.
