Sultan of Johor Cup: Australia trounce Pakistan 8-1

hockeyLahore : This match at the Sultan of Johor Cup Hockey for under 21 national teams in Johor Bahru (Malaysia) was between the joint leaders , each on seven points, playing their fourth match of the round robin.
But it turned out to be a completely one sided affair as Australia, excelling in all the departments of the game, outclassed Pakistan by eight goals to one.
They led 4-1 at the  half time.
Aussies, who had demolished New Zealand 9-1 yesterday, maintained a fast pace throughout.
Their well coordinated and relentless attacks originated from both the sides and six  goals scored through open play were all via delightful moves. They converted two of the four penalty corners as well.
Tom Craig had a hat trick and Ryan Procter scored two. Other three goals were shared by Govers, Gerrard and Hendry.
The Australian defence was clinical with excellent marking of  Pakistani forwards, who were not given much room.
Greenshirts’ only goal came through Atiq Arshad’s field effort in the 25th minute of the first half during their best phase of the match lasting around five minutes.
Pakistan need to pull up their socks for the last round robin match against Japan tomorrow.
