Government is adopting fascist techniques to prevent the sit-in : Sirajul Haq

Lahore : Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that the government was adopting fascist techniques to prevent the sit-in and deny the masses right to protest. He has urged the judiciary to take immediate notice of the state oppression and order the release of arrested political workers.

Sirajul Haq said that the rulers were repeating the politics of Nineties and were inviting civil war. The government was creating hatred for state institutions among the masses, he added.  He was inaugurating the new Gynecology block at the Mansoora hospital on Friday.

The JI chief said that perhaps the rulers wanted the masses to grab them by neck and throw them out. He said that the arrests of political workers and torture of women was the worst form of state terrorism. The rulers had failed to fulfill their constitutional responsibilities, he said.

Sirajul Haq said the health sector was the most neglected and the plight of government hospitals was deplorable. In the federal budget, only a  sum of Rs. 22.4 billion had been allocated for health which meant Rs. 111 per capita annually. On the other hand, he said, lakhs were spent from the public exchequer on the minor ailment of the rulers.

He said that the service of the masses was not the priority of the rulers, and instead, they were denying the people their basic rights. He said that had the rulers trust in the country’s doctors, they would not rush abroad for treatment.

President, Hospital Governing Body, Dr Farid Ahmed Piracha, and M.S. Mansoora Hospital,  Dr Anwar Ahmed Bagvi, were also present.

Earlier, while addressing the Friday congregation at Mansoora mosque, the JI chief said that during the last seventy years, the country had dictatorship for thirty five years and the so- called democratic rule for other 35 years. He said that the mental slaves of the west had imposed dictatorship in the name of democracy. The constitution was pushed in the background and the rulers framed the laws of their choice. There had been not been the Islamic system even for a single day.

The JI chief said that those talking of change should know that a thief could not catch another thief. An honest leadership was needed for accountability and such a leadership was only with the JI and even its opponents confirmed that fact.

He said the JI wanted change through constitutional process and not through force.
