Lahore : Director General of Trade Organisations (DGTO) has declared recently-held elections of president of chamber of small traders as illegal and null and void.
DGTO Azhar Iqbal has also slapped collective fine of Rs 20 thousand on newly-elected president Kamran Abbasi and Secretary General of the chamber Muhammad Iqbal Qureshi for violating rules and regulations. He ordered both of the accused to pay the fine immediately.
According to the details one Kamran Abbasi recently declared himself president of the Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders after conducting a controversial election.
After the announcement which left many aback, former president of the chamber of small traders Malik Nadeem Akhtar challenged the election praying that Mr. Abbasi has tempered with papers, record and involved in malpractices.
After receiving the complaint, the DGTO ordered an inquiry and announced the order keeping in view the findings of the inquiry against Mr. Abbasi.
He has also ordered the election commission of the chamber to conduct elections for the slot of president of the chamber within one week time.
