DG Sports Punjab Zulfiqar Ghumman takes notice of bodybuilders’ deaths

Lahore : Director General Sports Punjab Zulfiqar Ahmad Ghumman has taken serious notice of the sudden deaths of bodybuilders in the Punjab province and asked the Director General Health to make effective measures for free dope tests in all government hospitals to curb the doping menace among players particularly bodybuilders.

In his letter to President Punjab Bodybuilding Association, Director and Secretary Health, Director General Sports Punjab Zulfiqar Ghumman has sought the list of clubs and bodybuilders so that the sensitive issue can be handled appropriately. He also urged the concerned bodies to furnish complete report of doping tests instantly.

Director General Sports Punjab said Punjab government is spending huge amount for the promotion of sports but the usage of prohibited substances is growing among the players causing deaths of bodybuilders. “The safety of players is the top priority of government and every possible action will be taken for the elimination of trend of doping among young players,” he added.

A few days back, Chairman ETPB Sidiq ul Farooq son Ali Farooq was died due to the use of medicines whereas last year 17 bodybuilders were died for using steroids.
