DG Sports Punjab Zulfiqar Ahmed Ghuman notice drugs in bodybuilding

Lahore : Director General Sports Punjab Zulfiqar Ahmed Ghuman has taken serious note of the use of drugs in bodybuilding and has asked the Punjab Bodybuilding Association to submit a detailed report on the deaths of bodybuilders perished with the use of drugs.

While talking to media, the new DG also issued directives asking the health department to ensure steps for the dope test of the athletes. “Health and protection of athletes is the top most priority of the government and any kind of negligence will not be tolerated in this regard,” he added.

“The use of drugs by players has increased to a dangerous level which is a matter of great concern because the players are assets of the country.

“We would not let them dope. They should show their abilities with their skills and hard work,” he maintained.

He said that there will be zero tolerance on the use of illegal medicines for developing better stamina and physique.

He further said that strict action will be taken against those found involved in this heinous crime. “We have raised the issue with the health department to make sure dope tests of players are conducted on regular basis,” he said.

He said that the matter has been taken seriously and concrete steps would be taken for the eradication of drugs use in sports. “Senior doctors will also be lured in to stem the evil of drugs use and legitimate step are also going to be taken to control it so that sportspersons should adopt the path of hard work and concentrate on their sport,” he said.
