PML-N won Provincial Assembly seat PP-7 in by-elections

PML-N flagLahore : The ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has won Provincial Assembly seat PP-7 in by-elections held on Monday.

According to unofficial results, Malik Muhammad Umer Farooq of PML-N bagged 46,800 votes, while Ammar Siddique Khan of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) got 39,655 votes.

Malik Muhammad Umer Farooq of (PML-N) and Ammar Siddique Khan of PTI were the main contesters.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders on Monday rejoiced over the victory of party’s candidate in Taxila by-election, saying the politics of public service, honesty and hard work had won. “The people have rejected foes of progress and development and those doing negative politics should learn a lesson from their defeats,” they opined.

Punjab government spokesman Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri MPA said the success of  PML-N candidate was in fact an expression of people’s confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and his policies to lead Pakistan to the road of progress and prosperity.
“The people have turned down the negative politics of sit-ins and marches as they want solution of their problems and progress of the country,” he added.

Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Culture Rana Muhammad Arshad said the elements who were sacred of the government’s popularity because of its people’s welfare projects, were bent upon to hinder the development process through sit-ins and marches. However, they would fail in their designs as the country would march on the road to progress, he added.

PML-N Lahore President Pervaiz Malik MNA congratulated Malik Muhammad Umer Farooq for winning the Taxila by-election and said the Prime Minister and Punjab Chief Minister were making sincere efforts for resolving the problems being faced by the country and its people, besides overcoming shortage of electricity by 2017.

He said the PML-N would go to the people in 2018 on the basis of its performance.

Lawmakers Majid Zahoor, Ramzan Siddiq, Yasin Sohal, Azma Bokhari and Nighat Sheikh said the elements attempting to impede the projects for people’s welfare, had been exposed as proved by the people of Taxila who had rejected the politics of allegations, lies and hypocrisy by voting for the PML-N candidate.

Chief Minister’s Advisor on Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq said the people of PP-7 Taxila had given their decision in favour of the policies of Nawaz Sharif government, which was an ample proof of party’s mounting popularity among the masses.
He said the people wanted promotion of democracy and strengthening of democratic institutions.
