Haveli Bahadur Shah Power Project will be fully operational by March 2017

havelli-bahadur-shah-power-projectLahore : The under construction 1230 megawatt RLNG Haveli Bahadur Shah Combined Cycle Power Project, notable due to its steam system will be fully operational by March 2017.

This plant consists of two gas turbine, 2 HRSG (Heat recovery system generator) and one steam turbine. Other turbines and machinery for the plant are purchased from world’s renowned General Electric Company.

General Manager Project Muhammad Saleem Akhtar highlighted that in first phase turbine will start production by March and in second phase, this plant will generate 700 megawatt electricity by August 2017 while finally by January 2018, it will be capable to generate 1230 MW electricity. The special quality that distinguishes this plant from other gas plants is its ability to generate electricity by converting steam into water. This steam system will generate electricity on cheap rates.

While apprising of the detail, General Manager Project Muhammad Saleem Akhtar told that NESPAK is consultant in this project while Lehmiar International Company will accomplish it. For this project, latest machinery will be used to produce maximum electricity with minimum fuel. This plant can be operated with both gas and diesel. To store alternate fuel in the plant, two tanks are attached with the storage capacity of 21000 meter diesel.

According to Deputy Manager Project Zhong Xining, “Havelli Bahadur Shah Project is an excellent example of deep rooted Pak-China friendship.   The estimated cost of this project was 93 billion but due to good performance, transparency and prudent planning, it will be completed in 55 billions. This project will save 6.6 million rupees every year. This plant is on the brink of Taremun Sadhnai Link Canal 20 km away from Jhang and 47 km away from Toba Tek Singh.

It covers 130 acres area of land while this plant covers 94.5 acre area of the whole land. 2000 workers are working on the site among which 622 are Chinese and fool proof security has been provided to Chinese workers  among 2000 workers,150 are engineers while rest of them are laborers. It is expected that load shedding will soon end in Pakistan and Pakistan will also be included among developed countries.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the project on October 16, 2016 and 50% work of the project has been completed and after completion, it will reduce the load shedding to greater extent.
