Protection of every child is very important : Shahbaz Sharif

Shahbaz SharifLahore : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a meeting of steering committee set up with regard to missing children, here today. The meeting reviewed in detail the progress made on the cases of lost children.

The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction over the steps being taken for the recovery or return of missing children to their homes.

Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz Sharif said that protection of every child is very important. He said that steps should be continued in an active manner for the return of missing children and steering committee should not only monitor the steps in this regard but also take necessary measures by reviewing its progress regularly.

The Chief Minister appreciated the role of steering committee and concerned institutions for the recovery or return of missing children to their homes. He said that due to timely and effective steps of the government, such incidents have reduced. He said that the role of Prosecution Department is of paramount importance for disposing the cases of misplaced children at the earliest therefore, Prosecution Department should fully pursue such cases.

The Chief Minister said that the work of Child Protection & Welfare Bureau is also commendable with regard to recovery of missing children and their return to their homes. Giving briefing to the meeting it was told that 14 missing children have returned to their homes or have been recovered during last seven days.

Provincial Minister Rana Sanaullah, Advisor Health Khawaja Salman Rafique, Special Assistant Rana Maqbool Ahmed, Chief Secretary, Advocate General Punjab, Inspector General Police, Parliamentary Secretary Khawaja Imran Nazir, Jahangir Khanzada MPA, Chairperson Child Protection & Welfare Bureau MPA Saba Sadiq, Uzma Zahid Bukhari MPA, Secretary Home, secretaries of concerned departments and senior officials attended the meeting.
