Rabia Naseer was the victim of a part-time lover

Rabia NaseerLahore : Police have not reached to any result for concluding the case of the young student of Kinnaird College who was found dead in the Pearl Continental Hotel.

Rabia Naseer, 24, was found shot in the head. The police have already released some members of the hotel staff after cross-questioning as investigators are treating the death as “suicide and not homicide.”

However, the investigation led to the discovery of her affair with a man who known by the name of Amir Khattak and reportedly a member of a section of Armed Forces.

Amir Khattak, 40, was being questioned by local police in connection with the killing. He is father of four children . The man confessed to the police investigators that he had an affair with the lady but he never tried to harm her.

Khattak had developed an affair with the good-looking lady but after sometime he refused to marry her. She had been in relationship with Mr Khattak for the last two years,” a senior police officer said while seeking anonymity.

Amir Khattak was the man whom she talked on mobile phone before she was killed but no evidence had been collected that Amir Khattak was presented at the hotel.The suspect’s status was a big hurdle in the way of justice as police investigator have no morale courage to keep him for investigation though the law bestowed them the right to do it.

However, investigations were underway to ascertain how the lady entered the high-security zone with a pistol in her bag when the president of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain was there to attend a function . The hotel is also frequented by foreigners and political elite.

Earlier, the police had filed a murder case under section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code against unidentified men. The police are likely to close the case since the victim family is unwilling to join investigations. Rabia was the resident of Bhakkar district and her father is said to be Supervisor at a shoe-making factory of BATA in Jalomore, Lahore.

Sources said they were not allowed to visit the crime scene soon after the happening. “The body was shifted to a hospital before the police reached the hotel.”

A police source says they seized two shells from a washroom where the blood-soaked body was kept for a few minutes. Another official said two bullets were fired on the woman from at least one feet distance. The official further says he believe the lady was killed inside a hotel room.

But the CCTV footage shows the lady entered the hotel from the backside and later went to the ladies’ washroom. She was talking to someone on mobile phone when she entered the hotel.

The hotel staff told the police that the lady was still alive when they pulled her from the washroom. They said the lady locked herself in the washroom near the lobby before shooting herself in the head. “She was in touch with somebody on mobile phone when she opened fire with a pistol. First, she fired a warning shot and then shot herself in the head,” an official quoted hotel staff as telling investigators.When she was alone at locked washroom then how one could claim that she fired a warning shot ?

The hotel staff broke open the door, pulled out the injured lady, and shifted her to a hospital, where she was pronounced as brought dead. Later, her body was moved to the morgue for an autopsy.

Earlier, the police investigators recorded the statements of over a dozen hotel staff. Several police officers remained tight-lipped since the incident took place.

Investigators had recovered a handbag, some cigarettes, a pistol, and 14 bullets from the crime scene. On the day of incident, the forensic experts also collected evidences from the scene to help police investigators solve the mystery.

According to insiders, the postmortem report and forensic evidences had been collected by the police  but the investigators failed to reach any result for further proceeding of the case.
