Lahore : A delegation from World Bank lead by Task Team Leader Ms Anna C. O’Donmell and comprising of Senior Development Specialist Ms. Jana El-Horr and Consultant Shan Rehman visited Punjab IT Board. Chairman PITB, Dr Umar Saif gave a comprehensive presentation on the various projects of PITB including e-Rozgar program. The meeting evaluated and discussed the pilot project for jobs and growth in the digital economy.
Dr Saif while briefing on progress and the future plans of the project said that PITB would be setting up e-Rozgar centres in the all 36 districts of Punjab that would provide vast opportunities of respectful and quick employment to the youth. He said “Pakistan is third largest country in the world in freelance entrepreneurs so the e-Rozgar program will improve it further.
Under this program 10,000 graduates both female and male will be trained by the PITB team this year. A fully equipped computer lab is being established in each district that will be opened 24 hours a week enabling online access to the digital content throughout the world. The training will be started hopefully in early September this year. The program is so useful that the learners will start earning money during training.”
