NCJP pays tribute to Abdul Sattar Edhi

Emmanuel Yousaf ManiLahore : On July 8, 2016, National Hero of Pakistan, a humanitarian and founder of one the country’s largest private welfare foundations, Abdul Sattar Edhi passed away.

During this lifetime Mr. Edhi worked tirelessly for the poor and the marginalized communities. The ambulance services of the Edhi Foundation is the largest in the country and is a prominent symbol of efficiency, that continues to contribute extensively in times of need, particularly during terrorist attacks and natural disasters.

The National Commission for Justice and Peace, a rights based organization of Pakistan Catholic Bishops’ Conference, expresses heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased philanthropist.

National Director Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Yousaf Mani and Executive Director Cecil Shane Chaudhry said in a joint statement that, “Mr. Edhi is a national asset, a legend whose services for humanity were nothing less than a pure manifestation of God’s love. The vacuum created by him can never be filled”.

The commission further pleaded to the nation and government to provide all assistance to the Edhi Foundation to be able to carry out its noble work for humanity.
