Lahore : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif inaugurated first Botanical Garden of its kind in Pakistan at Jallo Park today and also planted a sampling in the garden. He also inaugurated Butterfly House being set up at botanical garden and visited butterfly house.
The Chief Minister freed hundreds of butterflies in Butterfly House. After inauguration, the Chief Minister prayed and talked to the media. He said that the project of botanical garden was prepared one and half years ago and responsibility of implementation of the project was assigned to PHA. He said that botanical garden has been completed with high standard and walkways, butterfly house, recreational facilities for the children and other facilities have been provided in it.
Addressing to the children, Shahbaz Sharif said that they colour butterflies in the drawing box in their schools but they will found flying butterflies in this botanical garden, which is a beautiful increase in colours of life. He said that people from all over the country should visit this modern botanical garden and entertain with colours of life. He said that research will also be conducted in botanical garden along with recreation and papers will be written.
He said that botanical garden will prove to be a source of new recreational opportunities for the people and enhance Eid joys as a food court has also been set up here where delicious foods will be available to them. He said this botanical garden will play an important role with regard to promotion of tourism and he was told that there is no such botanical garden in the region.
Shahbaz Sharif thanked DG PHA Mian Shakeel, Vice Chairman PHA Iftikhar Ahmed, Lahore Administration, NESPAK and Niaz Ahmed and congratulated them. He appealed to the media to bring this botanical garden before the people so that nation could get good news. He said that instead of sensational news, lush green field, and butterflies of this garden should be shown to the people, as these are beautiful colours of life we should come before the nation. He said that instead of sensational situation, media should show positive aspect to the people.
Shahbaz Sharif said that good things should be shown to the nation to enhance the sense of pleasure of the nation, as it is not correct to talk of tension every time.
Replying to a question, the Chief Minister said that a mechanism regarding look after of botanical garden has been evolved which will be fully implemented. He expressed the hope that a large number of people will visit botanical garden and this will become a splendid project of Pakistan. He said that students of botany will also benefit from the project. He said that a healthy recreation will be available to the citizens due to botanical garden.
Shahbaz Sharif said that botanical garden has been set up at 80 acres of land at a cost of Rs. 30 crore. During visit to Butterfly House, he expressed keen interest and also saw fish aquarium. He also issued necessary instructions to the concerned authorities on this occasion. A souvenir of butterfly house was given to the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister also purchased gifts from his own pocket at souvenir shop. He also shook hand with PHA staff and gardeners at botanical garden and said that best work has been carried out in botanical garden and congratulated PHA and all of them.
Shahbaz Sharif extended advance Eid Mubarak to PHA staff and announced one month salary as bonus for them.
He expressed the hope that they will celebrate Eid with their near and dear ones in a beautiful manner. District administration, Members Assembly and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
