Ex-servicemen ask DPO to curb corruption in police

DPO Mandi Bahauddin Khalid Bashir CheemaMandi Bahauddin: A delegation of three ex-servicemen led by Major (retd) Sher Muhammad Gondal, President Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society (PESS) in Mandi Bahauddin met newly posted DPO Khalid Bashir Cheema at his office on Monday.

Sher Gondal welcomed the new DPO and wished him happy stay and success in performance of his duties during his tenure in this district. He told him that above thirty thousand ex-servicemen were inhabited in this district and with their family members they constituted 1/7thof total population of the district. They mostly belong to farming and laborer community and often are suppressed by local influentials.

At the instance of area influential’s police sometime involve ex-servicemen in false criminal cases. On other hand, when ex-servicemen are complainants in some theft or other criminal cases, police is reluctant to register FIR.

Probably, this happens because ex-servicemen cannot afford to meet police demand for bribe. They have also no influential to intercede for them. With this premise DPO was told the corrupt practices continued unabated in police department, and asked to end this monster.

The DPO in response said influence, MNA-ships and other worldly false status were all temporary and short-lived. He said God is with us and we should not worry about such considerations. God would guide and help us. DPO was bearded and looked upright and God fearing Muslim.
