Maj. (R) Azam Suleman Khan visits Rescue 1122 Headquarters

Maj. (R) Azam Suleman Khan visited Rescue 1122 HeadquartersLahore : The Home Secretary, Punjab Maj. (R) Azam Suleman Khan visited Rescue 1122 Headquarters today to inspect and check newly purchased two snorkels 70 Meter (230 ft) and 104 Meter (341 ft) of World best brand Bronto Sky Lift to further enhance operational capacity of the Rescue Service.

The Director General Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) Brig. (R) Dr. Arshad Zia welcomed him along with Deputy Director (HR&A) Dr. Fawad Shahzad Mirza, Deputy Director (P&D) Faheem Ahmad Qureshi, Deputy Director (Finance) Naeem Mukhtar, Regional Emergency Officer (North) Riffat Zia, Deputy Director (Operations) Ayaz Aslam, District Emergency Officer (Lahore) Dr. Ahmad Raza, Deputy Director (R&M) Eng. Irfan Naseer, and other senior officers.

Speaking on the occasion, the Home Secretary, Punjab Maj. (R) Azam Salman Khan congratulated all officers and rescuers on achieving historical milestone to enhance capacity of Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122 with latest specialized snorkel to manage fire and rescue operations in high rise buildings.

Earlier, Brig. (R) Dr. Arshad Zia DG Rescue briefed that upon the directions of Chief Minister Punjab and with the support of Home Department Punjab, the world best class Snorkels have become part of Pakistan’s the best Emergency Service. These Snorkels have been procured of worth Rs. 629 Million from Finland after following the procurement process as per PPRA rules by saving worth Rs. 147 Million of total approved cost for the vehicles due to competitive process. He also highlighted that during competitive process, the world best vehicles Bronoto Skylift, Finland have been qualified by the technical committee keeping in view the survey for high rise building in Lahore.

Brig (R) Dr. Arshad Zia further briefed that the salient features of latest specialized vehicles are that the working heights of 70 meters & 104 meter with telescopic cage boom for five persons, articulated boom function to access the difficult places during operations, Computerized system with multiple cameras for remote firefighting operation, superior down reach capability, up and over capability, Darley USA Fire pumps of (3000-3800 Liter Per Minute) installed, Man Germany chassis for efficient maneuverability, multi tiers of Safety features and 10 years comprehensively maintenance contract with supplier. Besides that, International trainers from Finland are imparting operational training to concerned rescue staff these days.
