Punjab is a polio free province now : Khawaja Salman Rafiq

Lahore : Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq has directed EDOs Health of all districts to keep a close eye on EPI and routine immunization coverage for ensuring polio free province. He said that EDOs health should work with more diligently and vigorously. He said that coverage targets should hundred percent be achieved during the polio campaign.  He added that Punjab is currently polio free province due to better micro planning and hard working of health department officers and polio teams.

He said this while presiding over a meeting to view the routine immunization coverage and polio situation in Punjab, here at Civil Secretariat. Director General Health Dr Mukhtar Hussain Syed, Director EPI Dr. Muhammad Munir, EDOs from Lahore, Rawalpindi, Rahim Yar khan, Muzafarghar, Multan, Rajanpur and D.G Khan also attended the meeting.

The meeting reviewed the situation after positive report of environment sample of sewerage water in DG Khan, last month.

Kh. Salman Rafique directed that micro planning for the polio campaign in DG Khan should be reviewed. The third party report regarding EPI coverage and polio campaign also presented in the meeting.

Kh. Salman Rafique directed the officers to revisit their micro plan and strategy for improving the routine immunization coverage. He also stressed the need of strict monitoring of polio teams.

Khawaja Salman Rafique has directed the officers to launch a vigorous anti-polio campaign in the cantonment areas with the collaboration of high-ups of the cantonment boards to ensure hundred percent coverage of polio.

DG Health Dr. Mukhtar Hussain Syed said that so far Punjab is polio free province during 2016 and directed to work hard to maintain the current polio free status and perform their duties with more professional dedication.
