Senator Sirajul Haq termed the federal budget as traditional

Siraj ul HaqLahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan,  Senator Sirajul Haq, has termed the federal budget for the next financial year as traditional and administrative. He said to term this budget as a development budget was deceiving ourselves.

Speaking in the Senate on Tuesday, he said that this budget was as distant from the people as the air conditioned Senate Hall from the sizzling heat of Multan.

The JI chief said that the budget simply meant acquiring loans from the IMF and the World Bank, repaying the loan with heavy interest, and obtaining fresh loan to pay off interest.

SSirajul Haq said that only 2.2 per cent of the budget had been allocated for education which was shameful due to illiteracy rate of 43 per cent.

He said that without fresh census, the budget estimates and figures were fictitious.

He said that the future wars would be fought on water but the budget had allocated only small amount for dams and water resources.

He said that the Kisan package announced for the farmers would benefit the feudal lords and vaderas who owned 64 per cent of agricultural land. Thus a huge amount of 342 billion would go to the pockets of the vaderas.

The JI chief said the allocation for health sector was too small especially because we had only one doctor for 1308 people.

Sirajul Haq said that the budget had nothing for the poor of Sindh, the Punjab, Balochistan add Khyber P.

He said that the village people were migrating to cities and towns because the villages had no facilities but the conditions in the cities was also not good. The cities did not have clean  drinking water. The budget had no road map for generating employment. He said that twenty million children were not going to schools and within next few years, there would be a big army of illiterate unemployed youth on roads.
