CM appreciates new Chief Financial Officer of PPDC for tracing financial irregularities

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has given “Shahbash” to new Chief Financial Officer of Punjab Power Development Company Muhammad Bilal Butt and his team for tracing financial irregularities of Rs.23 crore in the company and appreciated the performance of Bilal Butt for taking timely action against former chief financial officer and other officers involved in financial irregularities.

The Chief Minister said that Bilal Butt and his team have proved their dutifulness by identifying fraud of Rs. 23 crore and deserve congratulation as natural resources are trust of the nation and looters of these resources are criminals.

Shahbaz Sharif said that all those involved in corruption will have to be held accountable and no one can be allowed to loot public resources. He said that the plunderers of hard earn money of the masses deserve no leniency and their place is only jail. He said that Bilal Butt has detected financial irregularity by displaying dutifulness which is laudable. On this occasion, the Chief Minister also gave a shield to Bilal Butt.

Additional Chief Secretary, Chairman Planning & Development, Chairman Punjab Power Development Company, Secretary Energy, Secretary Prosecution and concerned authorities were present on the occasion. It is worth mentioning that former chief financial officer Punjab Power Development Company Ikram Naveed committed financial irregularities of Rs.23 crore through fraud. After assuming the charge, the new Chief Financial Officer Bilal Butt disclosed financial irregularities and brought the matter into the notice of Chief Minister, who ordered indiscriminate action against all the officers involved in financial irregularities.

A case was registered against Ikram Naveed and other officers with anti-corruption and they were arrested. Ikram Naveed is in police custody while other accused are on bail.
