Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif paid a surprise visit to under-construction 60-bed Tehsil Headquarters Hospital at Raiwind city today. He inspected under-construction wards, operation theaters, kitchen and labs and issued necessary instructions for early completion of the project of the hospital.
The Chief Minister expressed indignation over increase in the cost of the project of the hospital and ordered investigation to know its causes. He inspected different parts of the hospital and directed concerned officials to complete the work of installation of machinery and medical equipments in the hospital at the earliest. He said that the hospital should be completed in June at every cost so that best treatment facilities could become available to the people of the area.
He directed a third party audit into the construction work of the hospital and added that MD NESPAK should personally visit the hospital and complete third party audit work under his supervision.
Shahbaz Sharif also directed early completion of park of the hospital. After visit to the hospital, the Chief Minister addressed a large number of people and party workers present there.
The Chief Minister said that he had promised construction of the hospital for the citizens of the Raiwind and this hospital is in final stages of completion. He expressed the hope that the hospital will become operational in June. He said that although delay has accrued in the construction of the hospital and he has taken its notice and ordered its inquiry and action will be taken against the persons responsible in the light of investigations.
Shahbaz Sharif said that the hospital will be made a state-of-the-art hospital with regard to medical facilities and modern treatment facilities will be made available to the citizens of Raiwind in the hospital.
The Chief Minister said that he will inaugurate the hospital next month. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, government is making round the clock efforts for public service. He said that the mission of public service is being forwarded with honesty and hard work. He said that he never tolerated corruption and indiscriminate action is taken against complaints of corruption. He said that resources are a trust of the nation and are being spent on the nation with honesty. He said that a filtration plant has been installed in Government Girls School Raiwind.
The Chief Minister announced construction of a flyover on Raiwind Railway Crossing and said that soon the foundation stone of the flyover will be laid. He said that construction of flyover will be completed next year. He said that service to the people is his mission and no effort will be spared in this regard. He said that other problems of the citizens of Raiwind will be resolved at priority basis.
A briefing was also given to the Chief Minister regarding construction work and completion of the project of the hospital. MNA Afzal Khokhar, MPA Gulzar Gujjar, Commissioner Lahore Division, Secretary Primary & Secondary Health, DCO Lahore and other concerned officials were present on the occasion.
