The women education is indeed the key to prosperity : Governor Punjab Rafique Rajwana

Lahore: The 15th Convocation of the Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi was held at the Jinnah Convention Center Islamabad to commemorate the academic accomplishments of its students’ outstanding achievements in their academic career. Chancellor, Fatima Jinnah Women University and Governor Punjab, Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana conferred degrees on the graduating students at Bachelors, Masters, M. Phil and Ph.D. Level.

A total of 1,370 students were awarded degrees this year including 1 Ph.D., 130 M.Phil’s, 669 Masters and 570 Bachelors. More over 30 Gold and Silver Medals were also awarded to the studeGovernor Punjab Rafiq Rajwana 1nts having distinction in their respective program. First Women Bank and Media Development Trust Mishal Pakistan also awarded gold medals.

While speaking to the students at the occasion Governor Punjab and Chancellor Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana congratulated the students and their parents on their splendid success and said that the brilliant young generation is the future of prosperous Pakistan. He said that education specially the women education is indeed the key to prosperity. He further said, laws are necessary but not sufficient, for countering intolerance in individual attitudes.Governor Punjab Rafiq Rajwana

Rather, true education makes us more understanding, compassionate and generous. So unless our universities become the hub of generating new ideas and promote culture of tolerance, we cannot march forward on the path of progress and prosperity. He also added that, development and promotion of education has been a key area of the present government.

In this regards universities should emphasis on establishing linkages between academia, industry and vocational training institutions through a well formulated strategy. He also appreciated the FJWU’s active links of the University with the national and international universities and research organizations to facilitate young researchers to update their knowledge.

Governor Punjab Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana paid tributes to the martyrs of Armed Forces of Pakistan in War against terrorism and said that, “we are in the state of war for more than one and half decade. He said Pakistan government has taken many measures to provide security to the educational institutions. We are looking forward to provide funds, wherever necessary for the security and futuristic projects of the University. I am confident that the University’s leadership would put these funds to good use. Fatima Jinnah Women University would soon emerge with a truly national character as a research-based university, he added.

In her welcome address the Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. Samina Amin Qadir expressed her gratitude to the Chancellor FJWU and Governor Punjab for his presence in the convocation. She said that FJWU is doing its best to provide international exposure to its students and faculty by encouraging participation in international and national conferences. She said FJWU has developed international links and collaborative connections with various international academic organizations, raising the image of Pakistani women in the world.

The Vice Chancellor congratulated the students and their parents, and wished them a prosperous future. She also admired the students honored with medals for their dedication and outstanding achievements in their academic career at the Convocation.

Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC), Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed also spoke on the occasion.
