Journalist Panel clean sweeps Punjab Assembly Press Gallery Committee Elections

Journalist Panel cean sweeps in Punjab Assembly press gallery committee electionsLahore: Journalist Panel has swept Punjab Assembly Press Gallery Committee Elections. Journalist Panel’s both candidates won the contest by clear majority.

On the president slot,Journalist Panel’s Qamar Bhatti got 33 votes whereas Qazzafi Butt , the nominee of Progressive Panel and its allies including PFUJ(Rana Azeem Group),PUJ(Rana Azeem Group),EMPRA and other bodies took 24 votes.

On the slot of secretary,three candidates were contesting elections,Journalist Panel’s Ali Akbar secures victory by getting 36 votes whereas Progressive Panel and its allies candidate Aroosa Shokat got 13 and Dastoor Group’s Hafiz Naeem remained on third by getting 8 votes.

Hamid Riaz Dogar performed as Chief Election Commissioner,Punjab Assembly staff assisted in holding elections.

Lahore Press Club President Shahbaz Mian who was quite active in election process to support Progressive Panel’s candidate,left the Assembly premises as the voting time ended and the progressive Panel’s Shafiq Awan disappeared by quick departure before the CEC made announcement of the results.

Journalist Community has congratulated the President Arshad Ansari and the newly elected body on this historical victory as Press Gallery Committee’s elections results had decided in the past on two or three votes.

Speaker Punjab Assembly Rana Muhammad Iqbal, Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan, PML-Q President and former Prime Minister Ch Shujat Hussain, Senior Central Leader & former deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and MPA Moonis Elahi congratulated the newly elected President Qamar Bhatti and Secretary Ali Akbar on their victory in the Punjab Assembly Press Gallery Annual Elections.

Muslim League leadership in their congratulatory notes have hoped that newly elected members will work hard together in order to resolve the issues of the Journalists.
