Punjab University faculty member honored

Punjab University Department of Zoology’s Assistant Prof Dr Nadeem SheikhLahore: Georg-August-University Gottingen, Germany has issued an appreciation letter to Punjab University Department of Zoology’s Assistant Prof Dr Nadeem Sheikh for his commendable role in taking initiative and establishing the linkage between Georg-August-University-Gottingen, Germany and Punjab University, Lahore.

Being a Gottingen alumni, Dr Nadeem actively played his significant role in capacity building of the Master’s and Doctoral students by signing an MOU with the Goettingen University.

In 2011, Dr Sheikh played a key role to get PU as part of the EU-Erasmus Mundus Action funded EXPERTS-II Project (Exchange by Promoting Quality Education, Research and Training in South and South-East Asia) coordinated by the Georg-August-University-Goettingen, Germany.

The project was a big success and the active role of Dr Sheikh made it possible to have maximum applications from the Pakistan. The project was extended for its next round with the title of EXPERTS III, EXPERTS4ASIA and EXPERTS SUSTAIN. Under these exchange projects, total of 71 mobilities (bachelors, masters, doctoral, post-doctoral and staff) from Pakistan were made since 2011.

Goettingen International office on behalf of the University has greatly acknowledged and appreciated Dr. Nadeem Sheikh for his active role and efforts in making Punjab University as one of the most valuable partner in the EXPERTS Consortium, the EU funded project with the partnership of 20 Universities from 19 countries – 13 universities from 12 Asian countries and 7 EU universities from 7 countries.

PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran has also appreciated Dr Nadeem’s efforts in this regard.
