Lahore: Federal government has transferred Punjab Chief Secretary Khizar Hayat Gondal and posted Zahid Saeed as a new chief secretary. Khizar Hayat Gondal has been given a new assignment and posted as federal secretary for Industries.
Zahid Saeed is an officer facing a NAB corruption probe has been appointed chief secretary of Punjab, in place of Khizar Hayat Gondal who reportedly had started challenging the chief minister on different matters.

His appointment as Punjab chief secretary was approved Friday morning by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after consultation with Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Some sources claimed the federal government removed Gondal due to the poor coordination in dealing with the supporters of Mumtaz Qadri on the eve of his chehulum in Rawalpindi last Sunday. The protesters managed to enter Islamabad and even staged the sit-in against government in Red Zone of the capital.
On the other hand ,it was was said that here was a cold war between the CM Shahbaz Sharif and Khizar Hayat Gondal which started when former SMBR Nadeem Ashraf was made OSD after differences developed between him and the overbearing Punjab CM.
The CM was unhappy with his stance on use of state lands for revenue generation. Gondal, the sources said, had stood by the top revenue officer on that occasion.
