The first batch of 700 Jawans of Dolphin Force passed out at Chung Police Training CenterLahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that provincial government has taken a lead by setting up Dolphin Force first time in the history of the country and this force is a milestone in the history of Punjab Police.

The Chief Minister expressed these views at the passing out parade of the first batch of 700 Jawans of Dolphin Force at Chung Police Training Center, here today.

He said that Dolphin Force equipped with modern training is the new face of Punjab Police and will play an important role in maintaining peace in cities and villages of Punjab as well as controlling crimes especially street crime.

He said that setting up of Dolphin Force is a very important step of Punjab government and will strengthen the efforts of Punjab Police to maintain peace in the province and root out crime. He said that Dolphin Force will play a vanguard role in curbing street crime.

Addressing the function, the Chief Minister said that it is a very important day in the history of Punjab Police as setting up of the first Dolphin Force in Pakistan is a big achievement. He thanked Turk leadership, government and people for their cooperation in this regard. He said that there are deep-rooted friendly, brotherly, cultural and historic relations between Turkey and Pakistan and both the countries have stood by each other in every hour of need. He said that Turk brethren always refer to the assistance of Muslims of the subcontinent in the freedom movement of Turkey while the people of Punjab can never forget the help and cooperation of their Turk brethren during floods and earthquakes.

He said that this journey of friendship and cooperation between the two countries is continuing and their bilateral relations have turned into strong economic cooperation.

Shahbaz Sharif said that free trade agreement will increase economic and trade cooperation with Turkey. He said that passing out of the first batch of Dolphin Force on Pakistan Day is a proof of the fact that people of the two countries are celebrating this historic day together. He said that like the people of other countries of the world, Pakistanis are also grieved at the death of innocent citizens in the recent terrorist activities in Ankara and Istanbul.

He said that Islamic world from Casablanca to Kuala Lumpur will have to fight against terrorists collectively and joint efforts are needed for rooting out this menace as terrorism is a collective issue of the nations.

Shahbaz Sharif prayed that may Allah save Muslim Ummah from this scourge and terrorism is eliminated from the world. He said that the first batch of Dolphin Force has been prepared with  lot of hard work and efforts and it will safeguard the citizens in mohallahs and streets and deal with street crime in an effective manner. He said that all recruitments to this force have been made on merit and Punjab government is strictly following merit policy in the province.

Shahbaz Sharif said that recruitments to all departments and police are being made on merit and the same policy has been adopted in recruitments to Dolphin Force. He said that training on modern lines has been imparted to the force and he is confident that it will not only protect but also adopt a decent attitude to the citizens. He said that it if the time came for fighting against criminals, the Jawans of Dolphin Force will show exemplary courage and bravery.

He said that dolphin force will make Punjab a haven of peace and a crime-free province. He congratulated Jawans of Dolphin Force, their parents, teachers and instructors on the passing out of the first batch of the force. He said that nation has high hopes of this modern force that it will effectively safeguard the citizens as well as root out street crime.

Shahbaz Sharif said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was to attend this ceremony but he could not reach due to his official engagements but he has sent a message of felicitations and expressed hope that this modern force will come up to the expectations of the government and the masses. He said that huge resources have been spent on setting up Dolphin Force. He assured that there will be no shortage of funds for ensuring peace and elimination of crime.

He said that it is the demand of the struggle of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and sacrifices of martyrs of Pakistan Movement that every efforts should be made for achieving the objectives for which Pakistan was created. He said that Pakistan will be made an Islamic welfare state in accordance with the vision of Quaid and Iqbal. He said that though it is a difficult task but not impossible if the principle of honesty, commitment and hard work is adopted.

Inspector General Police Mushtaq Sukhera while addressing the ceremony said that officials of Turk National Police have extended all out cooperation in the setting up of Dolphin Force and it has been imparted training on modern lines.

He said that passing out of the first batch of 700 jawans of Dolphin Force is historic day.

Turk Ambassador Sadik Babur Girgin while speaking on the occasion said that friendship between Pakistan and Turkey is everlasting and there is a strong bond of brotherhood between the people of the two countries. He said that Turkey and Pakistan have stood by each other in difficult times. He said that cooperation between Turk National Police and Punjab Police is increasing in different sectors and preparation of Dolphin Force is a link in this regard.

He said that cooperation with Punjab government will continue in future as well. Turk Ambassador paid tributes to former provincial minister Col. Retd. Shuja Khanzada Shaheed and said that he worked a lot for cooperation between Punjab government and Turkey in the training of police and in different sectors.

The Chief Minister also inspected passing out parade of Dolphin Force and witnessed a practical display of their training. He also gave prizes to the jawans showing best performance.

The Chief Minister gave a souvenir to the Ambassador of Turkey on behalf of Dolphin Force Lahore whereas Inspector General Police presented a souvenir to the Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Provincial Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah and other Ministers, Assembly Members, Ambassador of Turkey Sadik Babur Girgin, diplomats, Inspector General Police, Secretary Home, officers of Turk National Police and a large number of people were present on the occasion.
