Muhammad Ramzan wins 1500 Meters Race on 2nd day of 116th Annual Sports of GCU

Lahore: Muhammad Ramzan, a student of Physical Education Department, has won the 1500 Meters Race, at the second day of the 116th Annual Sports of Government College University, Lahore which was marked by the athletic competitions among students and faculty and staff members. Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah, GCU Sports Board Chairman Prof Dr Ikram ul Haq, Director Sports Khadim Ali Khan and other senior faculty members gave away medals to the winning students and departmental teams.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof Shah said that the real beauty of their annual sports lied in the collective participation of students and teachers from all the academic departments of the university. Above all, this year physically-challenged students are also participating in the sports.

Later, Mohsin Naveed, another student of Physical Education Department, won the 400-metre Hurdle Race by putting his endurance to test; finishing the race in the 00:57:63 breaking his last year best of 01:08:28 seconds. However, in 100 Metres final, Subhan Masood of Economics Department reached the finishing line in 10:75 seconds which earned him a Gold Medal. Mohisn Naveed, Benish Saleem and Qaiser Abbass won the Triple Jump (Boys), 100-Meter Race (Girls) and Discus-Throw (Boys). Economics Department’s boys’ team won 4×100 Meters Relay. A team of GCU Sports Department won the 4×100 Metres Staff Relay Race. The most enthralling Gymkhana events of GCU Annual Sports which include the famous Chatti Race for Girls, Ministerial Staff Race, Naib Qasid Race, Four Legged Race, Cricket Throw Ball for Girls, Pillow Fighting, Staff Children Race, Stilt Race, 60-Metre Race, Sack Race, and Obstacle Race will be held today (Friday) at GCU Oval Ground at 2:30pm. Old Ravains would also participate.
