Govt has failed in providing basic healthcare facilities to masses :Dr Yasmin Rashid

Dr Yasmin RashidLahore : Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman’s advisor Dr Yasmin Rashid has said the government has completely failed in providing basic healthcare facilities to masses.

She said some 659 medical officers and women medical officers’ posts in the province were lying vacant.

She said the government’s plan to recruit 27 support managers at the hefty salary package of Rs130,000 would fell hard on the provincial kitty. She said that it would also be considered as an injustice to the already working doctors, who were being denied higher salary packages as well as other perks and privileges.

Talking to media persons here on Tuesday, Dr Yasmin said the rulers were focusing on the mega projects to gain political mileage and make money. On the other hand, she said, the masses were being denied of their basic health facilities right and many patients were dying unattended.

Dr Yasmin said that some 42 medical officers and women medical officers’posts in BHUs in Bahawalpur and Bahawalnager were lying vacant besides, 33 in Nankana Sahib, 31 in Sargodha, 28 each in Okara and Narowal, 27 in Sahiwal, 12 in Jehlum and 21 in Gujrat. Overall, 659 such posts were lying vacant across the province. But, she regretted, the rulers did not seem serious to fill these posts. She observed that the rulers had completely failed to provide health and other basic facilities to masses.
