Lahore: Chief Relief Commissioner Punjab & SMBR Zahid Saeed has said that control rooms have been made functional immediately for monitoring the flow of water in rainy nullahs in view of the expected heavy rains throughout the province. He said that a central control room has also been set up in PDMA. He said that nullah Lai is especially being monitored in Rawalpindi. He said that all arrangements have been completed in view of the heavy rains during next few days.
He expressed these views while addressing a meeting of Flood Committee held at control room of PDMA, today. Directors Ali Anan Qamar, Ammar Ali Khan, Muhammad Sajjad, Nisar Ahmed Sani, Shabeer Haider and other officers were also present on the occasion.
Zahid Saeed told that warehouses are being updated throughout the province. He said that the administrations of all districts should immediately inform the department about their demands of daily essential and eatable items before monsoon. He disclosed that this time edible items will be purchased locally and provided to the affectees.
Chief Relief Commissioner said that PDMA is getting big motorboats for rescue operation so that maximum people marooned in the water could be rescued. He said that all districts administration should complete stock of sand bags and stones at the banks of rivers and canals before monsoon.
