School lying abandoned for the last twenty years in Mandi Bahauddin

Mandi Bahauddin(Sher Gondal) : Village primary girl school is lying abandoned for the last 20 years due to non-posting of teacher.

According to residents of Hassan village of Mandi Bahauddin Tehsil Punjab Government built the school on land measuring 5 Kanal that was provided by villagers from Shamlat Deh land in 1995.

They said the building of school was completed but no teacher was posted. They have been requesting education department for making the school functional but education authorities ask them for mutating the school land to Government.

The villagers went to Revenue department with a request to transfer the land in the name of government but the concerned officials delayed attesting the mutation without any valid justification.

On Wednesday a delegation of villagers came to DCO office to request DCO for directing concerned officials for transferring the land to Punjab Government and posting of teachers to the school but they were told that DCO was not present.

They waited for DCO till office closing hours and went back disappointed. One former Subedar Mansha Gondal was also part of the delegation who told this scribe that their female children were being deprived of education due to non-posting of teacher.

He further told that that villagers had already given possession of the land to education department where the school building was raised and the mutation was just a lame excuse for delaying posting of teacher.
