Lahore: Member National Assembly Awais Ahmad Leghari called on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, here today and discussed ongoing welfare projects for the people of South Punjab. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the prosperity of the people of south Punjab is dearer and Punjab government has provided billions of rupees for the development and prosperity of people of south Punjab. He said that work is continuing speedily on the Metro Bus Project for providing traveling facilities of international standard to the people of Multan which is the big city of south Punjab.
Shahbaz Sharif said that Metro Bus Project is a gift for the people of south Punjab. He said that after completion of Metro Bus Project, modern, speedy and economical traveling facilities will be available to the people of south Punjab including Multan. He said that the knowledge centers like Daanish Schools have also been setup in south Punjab which are playing important role in promoting education in the area.
The Chief Minister said that free education as well as boarding and lodging facilities are being provided to the children of poorest families in Daanish Schools. He said that quality treatment facilities are also being provided to the people of south Punjab through mobile health units at their doorstep. He said that a hospital equipped with latest facilities has been setup in Bahawalpur whereas the most modern Recep Tayyip Ardogan hospital established with the cooperation of Turkey in Muzaffargarh is providing best treatment facilities to the people.
Shahbaz Sharif said that billions of rupees are being spent on the construction and rehabilitation of rural roads under “Khadim -e-Punjab Rural Roads Program”. He said that rural economy will be promoted through the construction and rehabilitation of rural roads under “Khadim -e-Punjab Rural Roads Program and living standard of rural population will improve.
The Chief Minister said that the government is also paying full attention to the uplift of backward areas and is pursuing a balanced policy for the development of the rural and urban areas. He said that ten percent more quota has been allocated for the districts of south Punjab in the development and welfare programs.
