Dr. Umar Saif inaugurates the world best online taxi service Uber

Dr Umar SaifLahore: Chairman Punjab IT Board (PITB) Dr. Umar Saif said that the Uber would help thousands of Lahorites every day to move around their city on affordable, reliable and safe rides at a single click at their mobile phone. He said it while addressing the launching ceremony of the world best online taxi service “Uber” at Arfa Software Technology Park on Thursday.

The ceremony was attended among others by Uber’s International Launcher for Middle East & Pakistan Loic Amado and the Country Head of Uber Mr. Zuhair. Dr. Saif inaugurated the launch of service formally by pressing a button sharp at 12 pm, the traditional time for launching the service at a new place.

Dr. Saif said that Pakistan was the 69th country around the world picked by the prestigious Uber. He said “By riding Uber one may feel reassured that he can share the details of his trip with whom waiting for so they can see every minute and metre of his entire trip in real time. That way they may exactly assess when he would reach.  It is so popular service that a large number of people have already downloaded the app in anticipation of this day.”

Dr. Saif told that the PITB would ensure online verification of drivers’ criminal record, traffic violations, registration of vehicles in addition to modify the main Ubar App in accordance with the local requirements.

Congratulating the audience, Loic Amado said “the interest had been incredible in Lahore, so we were extremely excited to be launching here first. “Anyone can now enjoy an affordable, reliable and safe ride at the push of a button thanks to uberGO. The competitive price means using uberGO is the perfect option for anyone wanting to get around the city.”

Mr. Zuhair said “Uber Pakistan is launching uberGO with cash as well as the usual electronic payment option – one of the first Uber cities globally to do so. Uber is available on all iOS, Android, Blackberry 7 and Windows smartphones. Users simply download the free app and create an account to get riding.

At the end of the journey, the trip can be completely cashless, as payment can be made automatically made through app wishes so there’s no worrying about carrying enough cash. These features provide increased safety as well as unprecedented convenience. Plus there is 24/7 support so if something happens, whether it’s a traffic accident or a disagreement, our customer support staff are ready to respond to any issues at any time.”

He said that the base fare of Uber Taxi would be Rs. 100, minimum fare Rs. 150, while per additional fare would be charged as Rs. 13.7/Km and Rs. 3.7 per minute.  Dr. Saif and Mr. Loic experienced a ride of the Uber Taxi after media talk.
