Success in the South Asian Games credit goes to PHF management:Shahid Pervaiz Bhandara

Lahore: Pakistan White hockey team Manager Shahid Pervaiz Bhandara on Wednesday gave full credit to the Pakistan Hockey Federation President Brig ® Khalid Sajjad Khokhar and Secretary General Shahbaz Ahmed Senior for team’s success in the South Asian Games. He also thanked Patron-in-Chief of the PHF Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for giving lucrative cash prizes to the players of the victorious team.

Addressing a press conference, along with Muhammad Saqlain and Dr. Atif Bashir, at the National Hockey Stadium here on Wednesday, he said the PHF management gave selectors a free hand to pick a balanced team which produced results. He said the way the Patron rewarded the players should be continued to encourage the upcoming players in the game. Bhandara said both Coaches Mohammed Saqlain and Rehan Butt developed a wonderful rapport with the players and used them according to their plans. “The age difference of the coaches and the players was marginal which helped us a lot”, he said and added that he would urge upon the PHF management to continue with young but educated coaches at every level.

Saqlain said that as coach he was satisfied with the performance of the team which conceded only one goal in the Event. He said thin age difference between the coach and the players helped in developing a good understanding quickly.
