Rulers’ monarchism attitude is denying the spirit of democracy: Dr Yasmin Rashid

Dr Yasmin RashidLahore : Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman’s advisor Dr Yasmin Rashid has said the PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa depoliticised in less than three years in power but the Punjab government could not do so even after ruling for 30 years.

She said KP was witnessing change just because of depoliticisation of public institutions. She said the PTI would play its due role of opposition at all forums including Punjab Assembly and added that rulers’ monarchism attitude was denying the spirit of democracy. She said the rulers had failed in giving relief to masses on account of power and gas load-shedding.

Addressing different party workers’ delegations at her office on Wednesday, Dr Yasmin Rashid said the PTI leadership was taking all decisions after consulting workers. She said the rulers’ thinking clearly displayed dictatorship and they themselves were the serious threat to democracy. Dr Yasmin Rashid said the PML-N had converted the Parliament and Punjab Assembly as “Rubber Stamp” and added that the rulers were selecting mega development projects considering their own “interest” instead of public welfare. She said the rulers were busy in establishing Rs200 billion metros instead of public welfare projects.

In Punjab, she said, major development projects were being decided outside the Punjab Assembly. She said the PML-N government had no experience except failures. She said the masses could not expect anything good from the incumbent rulers, even if they would stay in power for the next 100 years. She said the incumbent rulers would continue creating new crises to be faced by the nation
