Lahore: Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Najam Ahmad Shah has said that comprehensive measures are being taken for strengthening of health sector and providing quality medicines. He said that besides setting up of new hospitals, up-gradation and equipping the existing hospitals with modern gadgets is also being made. He said that no effort will be spared in providing fruits of government measures to the patients in this regard. He said that under a comprehensive strategy, the performance of government hospitals is being monitored effectively.
He said this while visiting different wards of Allied Hospital, District Headquarters Hospital, General Hospital Ghulam Muhammad Abad and Children Hospital Faisalabad. Chief Planning Officer Health Department Abdul Haq Bhatti besides other officers were also accompanied with him. Principal Punjab Medical College Prof. Dr. Sardar Fareed Zafar, Medical Superintendent Dr. Rashid Maqbool, Dr. Abdul Rauf, Dr. Muhammad Abbas and Dr. Khalid Mahmood Fakhar have informed about the performance of the hospitals, required resources and other important medical and administrative affairs. In-charge Urology Department Dr. Safdar Hassan Sial and Dr. Ghulam Mahboob Subhani told Secretary Health about the available facilities and various phases of setting up kidney center.
Secretary Health asked doctors and other staff to pay attention to the treatment and look after of the patients by discharging their duties with the spirit of service to the humanity so that confidence of masses should enhance in government hospitals.
He asked administrative officers to take special attention to the cleanliness situation of the hospitals. He directed to keep the bio-medical equipment and other diagnostic arrangements in working order and high quality administration should be their hallmark. Secretary Health inspected burn unit in Allied Hospital thoroughly and directed that the construction and repair work of minor nature should immediately be completed.
He appreciated the arrangements of successful operations of transplantation of eyes and quality treatment during the inspection of eye ward. He also inquired about the provision of medicines and other facilities during inspection of medical emergency ward and expressed his satisfaction over the overall performance of Allied Hospital.
Najam Ahmad Shah also expressed his satisfaction over the availability of first lithotripsy machine and dialysis machines in kidney center at District Headquarters Hospital. He also checked bathrooms and cleanliness arrangements.
Secretary Health has convened the meeting on Monday, February 29 in Lahore for reviewing the required resources and removing administrative bottlenecks in connection with making Government General Hospital Ghulam Muhammad Abad fully functional. He expressed deep concern over missing facilities in some medical disciplines during his visit to General Hospital. He said that despite completion of the building two years ago, some departments are not fully functional which tantamount to injustice with the patients.
Najam Ahmad Shah issued necessary instructions to the officers for improving medical services and other administrative affairs. He said that the invaluable assistance of philanthropists in health sector in Faisalabad is highly a good omen. He appreciated the spirit of service of well-to-do industrialists and thanked them on carrying out welfare work in government hospitals.
