Lahore: Punjab University two Syndicate members and two professors have written a letter to Governor Punjab/Chancellor Malik Rafique Rajwana to stop interim Punjab University Vice Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran from calling a meeting of Academic Council in violation of the rules.
The teachers said that Kamran has only a look-after charge of the University of the Punjab which only allows him to deal with the day to day affairs and not to decide about any policy matters.
“You, also a law expert, understand well that a look-after charge allows a person to deal with the day to day affairs only and not to decide about any policy matters. In this regard, holding a meeting of the Academic Council is not only the violation of Law but also unethical itself. You are, therefore, requested to please intervene in this matter as Chancellor of this university and stop this meeting by exercising your power as bestowed to you by the University Calendar. The faculty members of the university are looking forward to your lawful intervention to stop this unlawful act of the “look after” Vice Chancellor to hold the meeting of the Academic Council,” the letter reads.
Syndicate members Javed Sami, Shumaila Gull, Members Academic Council, Professor Syed Mansoor Sarwar and Professor Dr Shahid Ghazi have signed the application.
