The experts in public relations have a key role for social development :Raja Jahangir Anwar

Lahore: Director General Public Relations Punjab, Raja Jahangir Anwar has said that the experts in public relations have a key role for social development in the modern age of mass communication. The students of mass communication will play their active role in improving the image of the nation and the country through media., he added.

He expressed these views while addressing a training session on the topic “Modern Age of Public Relations, Opportunities and Challenges”. Director General Public Relations said that there is more need of experts in mass communication to the country as compared to doctors and engineers in this fast era of social media. He said that young experts in mass communication will have to fulfill the task of image building of the country in the comity of nations.

Raja Jahangir Anwar said that Punjab government is following open policy of mass communication for creating awareness among the people. He said that development projects of Punjab government are advertised for eliminating negative trends in the society so that people could be apprised of the steps and efforts of the government for resolving their problems and addressing difficulties. He said that the students should get practical training and experience in their sector along with teaching activities.

He said that in order to get better job opportunities, students of mass communication should be aware of all walks of life and adopt the habit of reading. He said that good public relationing is conditioned to good media management. Replying to the questions of the participants, teachers and students of training session, Jahangir Anwar said that according to new philosophy of development, working simultaneously in five sectors is necessary which also include, education, health and transport.

He said besides Lahore and Rawalpindi, Punjab government is working on metro bus service project in Multan. He said after Lahore, Orange Line Metro Train will also be launched in other districts.

In-charge Director Mass Communication Department Dr. Noshina Saleem welcomed the address of DGPR to training session of students of mass communication. She said that due to contacts with industry and education, new job opportunities will be available to the students.

Senior teacher Dr. Waqar Malik, other teachers, Chief Core Group Ishtiaq Amin Malik, Information Officer Hafsa Javed, Uzma Rubab, Sehar Iqbal Wattoo and office-bearers of Public Relations Society were also present on the occasion.
