Lahore: The biggest building of Cardiac Emergency of the country consisting of 200 beds at Punjab Institute of Cardiology is ready to complete and latest facilities of treatment will be available to heart patients coming PIC. Latest equipments including angiography system, cardiac monitors and lift system have been imported for this emergency and installation work has also been started.
All staff has been posted for activating the new emergency and their special training has also been started. The process has also been started to upgrade the existing building of the hospital.
Meanwhile, MS PIC Dr. Sohail Saqlain has said that the allegations of purchase of equipments on prices higher than the market is baseless and the said items were purchased at lower rates than market as per annual contract rates and payment is still to be made to the said firm.
Dr.Sohail Saqlain said that Oxygenerators have been purchased at Rs.22110 per piece whereas its market price is Rs.33000. Likewise, heart valve mechanical aortic were purchased at Rs.46900 and its market price is Rs.70000. Similarly, retrograde cannula were purchased at Rs: 4020 and its market price is Rs.6000. Dr. Sohail Saqlain refuted all allegations and termed it a futile effort to damage the good reputation of Punjab Institute of Cardiology.
