Shahdara Kroll Forest will be given the shape of a complete recreational park

Shahdra Kroll ForestLahore: Provincial Minister for Forests, Wildlife and Fisheries Malik Muhammad Asif Bha Awan has said that tree plantation has been carried out on 600 acre land of Shahdra Kroll Forest in Lahore. He said that wild and ornamental plants of thirty kinds have been planted. He said that tree plantation will be carried out on more 50 acre land at the end of current year and this forest will be given the shape of a complete recreational park. He said that 15 tube-wells have been installed for irrigating these plants which are fully functional.

He said this while talking to media-men during his visit to Shahdra Forest and Forest Colony Ravi Road, today. Chief Conservator Rana Shabir Ahmed, Conservator Lahore Circle Mehr Muhammad Yousaf and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.

The Provincial Minister said that ornamental plants have been planted on both sides of the roads constructed on the pattern of recreational park during tree plantation. He said that 4 km long jogging track has also been constructed for the facility of visitors whereas 15 tube-wells have also been installed for irrigation and other requirements.

Malik Muhammad Asif Bha Awan said that barbed wire has been fixed for protecting trees from animals and passages of surrounding population. He said that instructions have been issued to district government for looking after of existing sports stadium at Kroll Forest.

The Provincial Minister also visited Forest Colony Ravi Road and issued instructions for preparing the list of employees residing illegally in the colony and retrieving these residence from them. He also directed to provide more facilities to the government employees residing in this colony and allot residences according to the allotment policy of the department.
