District administrations is bound to start preparation of flood plan :Jawad Akram

DG PDMA Jawad AkramLahore: Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority Jawad Akram has said that district administrations throughout the province have been bound to start preparation of flood plan before commencement of monsoon. He said that such a strategy should be evolved in future as could provide immediate relief to the affectees during flood or any natural calamity. He said that new local government system should also be involved in the process of preparation of flood plan.

He expressed these views while addressing the representatives of administration of DG Khan, Bahawalpur and Faisalabad divisions at PDMA committee room. Director Operation PDMA Muhammad Sajjad, Nisar Ahmed Sani and representatives of UNO were also present on the occasion.

Jawad Akram told that roadmap has been evolved for coping with devastations of flood and monsoon rains all over the province under which besides control rooms, focal persons in all districts, instructions have been issued to send reports about complete preparations by March 15. He said that the district administration should complete preparation in a coordinated manner for saving crops, livestock and homes keeping in view the previous flood so that the losses could be minimized. He said that special vigilance should be kept on hill torrents of South Punjab so that there should be minimum loss due to flow of floodwater in monsoon season.
