Harappa Development Plan will soon be completed:Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan

Rana Mashhood Ahmad KhanLahore: Provincial Minister for Education & Archeology Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan has said that Harappa Development Plan will soon be completed. He directed that art & craft village, Harappa museum, international standard hotel and boundary wall of relics of Harappa should be included in the plan. He said that district administration Sahiwal should ensure widening of road leading to Harappa and provision of sewerage, electricity and water in the area.

He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting regarding conservation of archeological site of Harappa and attraction of maximum tourists towards this international heritage.

Secretary Archeology Humayun Mazhar Sheikh, Director Lahore Museum, MD Punjab Tourism and representatives of COMSATS were present on the occasion.

Rana Mashhood said that US Consulate is taking keen interest in the development of Harappa and making it a tourist center. He said that a committee comprising Secretary Archeology, Director Museum and representatives of COMSATS and friends of Harappa has been constituted which will give a final shape to Harappa Project Plan.

The Minister directed that symbol of Harappa should be prepared which can also be model of unicon. He stressed upon the need of preparing Harappa model and documentary immediately which can be source of interest for tourists while entry into Harappa.

He directed that grounds and parks around Harappa should be developed so that families and girl and boy students of schools could be attracted towards this tourist center.

The Minister also advised to improve the standard of existing canteen. He directed DG Archeology to set up souvenir shops for tourists so that different items relating to ancient culture of Harappa could be provided to the tourists.
