Aurat Foundation arranges District Workshop for Early Warning System

Mandi Bahauddin(Sher Gondal) : Aurat Foundation arranged District Workshop for Early Warning System Thursday at a local hotel. District Coordinator Mrs. Bushsra presided over the workshop while focal persons comprising male and female from 10 Union Councils attended the workshop.

These focal persons were given the task to find out causes of conflict based on sects, religions and domestic violence against women. The focal persons formed teams and spent three months to complete the task.

They visited houses, contacted stakeholders and presented their finding during the workshop. According to them main causes of domestic conflict were poverty and unemployment. In some cases they said conflicts between husband and wife took place due to difference of opinion while deciding domestic affairs. They also reported conflicts taking place between mother in law and daughter in law and their inciting the head of family against each other. Some of the disputes were avoided with efforts of focal persons, they informed the workshop.

They also suggested that if meetings of stake holders are arranged in villages, domestic violence could be reduced to great extent. Regarding conflicts between the followers of different religions and sects, they said harmony prevails in the society and there was no incidence or conflict happened in their respective areas of responsibility.

Mrs. Bushra appreciated performance of focal persons and vowed to accelerate efforts of Aurat Foundation to bring an end to domestic violence in the district.
