Govt has allocated 3317.22 million rupees for construction of spurs :Bilal Yasin

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Food and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Flood Bilal Yasin has said that government has allocated 3317.22 million rupees for construction, repair and up gradation of spurs and bridges at rivers affected due to recent flood in the province and on releasing of funds by finance department, work will soon be started.

He said this while addressing a meeting at PDMA office today. Secretary Irrigation Capt. Retd. Saif Anjum, DG PDMA Jawad Akram and officers of other departments attended the meeting. the meeting was told that is irrigation department has carried out a survey, in the light of which, work of construction, repair and up-gradation of spurs and bridges will soon be started.

Secretary Irrigation told that the protective bunds near big cities will be further strengthen and after construction, a report will be submitted to the committee so that any flaw could immediately be removed.

The meeting was told that 700 million rupees are being spent for up-grading the structure of Lala Creek, 130 million rupees for construction and up-gradation of Goodpur Bridge Khanpur Bund and 2198 million rupees for construction of 30 flood works, 102 million rupees for up-gradation of 13 small dams and 187.22 million rupees for construction of Chenderban floods bund.

The company carrying out repair and construction of bunds will be responsible of continues supervision of bunds. Secretary Irrigation told that the survey for repair of  Head Muhammadwala Multan, Talibwala Pindi Bhattian, Riwaz Bridge Jhang, Sher Shah Railway Bridge, Hafizabad Railway Bridge and Wazirabad Sohdra Bridge has been started. He told that 1088.5 million rupees will be spent for expansion and repair of DG Khan canal.

Bilal Yasin directed that Irrigation department should supervise the repair and construction work of bunds and spurs at all rivers so that there should be no negligence in construction material. He said that the government is spending huge amount for protection of life and property of the people due to devastations of flood.
