GCU ASA repose confidence in their VC Prof. Hassan Amir Shah

Group of ASA withVCLahore: The Academic Staff Association (ASA) of GC University, Lahore met here on Wednesday to take up matters pertaining to the welfare of the staff with Vice Chancellor, Prof. Hassan Amir Shah.

The meeting was attended by faculty members and office bearers of the ASA including ASA President Prof. Riaz Ahmed, Vice President Dr. Atif Yaqub, and ASA General Secretary Dr. Muhammad Nauman Aftab. During the meeting, office bearers and faculty members candidly discussed a wide range of issues and conveyed their concerns to the Vice Chancellor.

Some of the issues discussed during the meeting included promotion of lecturers and assistant professors serving on basic pay scale, and tenure track system. It was brought to the notice of the VC that the promotion of many faculty members was due for a long time.

The VC assured the faculty members that the matter would be dealt with on an urgent basis. The prospect of launching a housing society for faculty members was also discussed.  Prof. Hassan Shah ensured the faculty members that the university would offer all of its available resources to ensure the uplift of the academic environment at GCU, and to accommodate the demands of its faculty.

The ASA expressed the hope that many outstanding problems faced by the faculty, most of which had remained unresolved for many years, would be amicably resolved in the tenure of the current vice chancellor. They also demanded greater resource allocation for GCU from the Government of the Punjab. The faculty members were unanimous in saying that institutions like GCU require leaders who are allowed to work freely in a conducive environment. GCU teachers also urged for greater leverage from the government for their vice chancellor in running the affairs of the university.

The meeting ended with the faculty members reposing their trust and confidence in the ability and commitment of Prof. Hassan Shah.
