Punjab girls win Inter-Provincial Wushu Championship with six gold medals

Lahore: Punjab’s Under-16 girls team stole the show when they bagged six gold medals and won the Inter-Provincial Wushu Championship here on Thursday. Overall Punjab girls topped the table with 105 points. The boys title went Balochistan who grabbed six gold medals.

Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar, in his congratulatory message, lauded the performance of SBP girls wushu team in the Inter-Provincial Championship.

The Inter-Provincial Wushu Championship was organized at Nishtar Park Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall under the banner of Sports Board Punjab.

Punjab’s Under-16 girls team also got one silver and bronze medal in the championship. Balochistan, with 75 points, remained runners-up in the girls event by winning three gold, one silver and four bronze medals. The girls from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa finished third with three silver and four bronze medal.

Sindh girls grabbed two silver, four bronze, Islamabad attained two silver and bronze medals each while Gilgit Baltistan scooped three bronze medals in the championship.

In the Under-17 Boys Championship, Balochistan collected 105 points besides clinching six gold and three bronze medals. Punjab boys wrapped up the championship at number two spot with 80 points and 8 silver medals. The athletes from Sindh remained third with 70 points. They won three gold and five bronze medals. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa captured one silver and four bronze while Gilgit Baltistan and Islamabad took three and one bronze medal each.

Director Sports Board Punjab Jalil Chohan was the chief guest on this occasion. He distributed prizes among the successful players. The participating team thanked the Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar for providing best facilities during their stay in Lahore.
