A delegation of London Metropolitan Police Service met Punjab Chief Minister

British High Commissioner Philip Barton calls on Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz SharifLahore: A delegation of London Metropolitan Police Service met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif.

Matters regarding reforms in Punjab Police and Safe Cities Project were discussed in the meeting. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that reforms in police system is the need of the hour and the government will benefit from London Metropolitan Policing System for modernizing policing system in Punjab.

He said that government wants to restore the confidence of the people in police on the same level as British citizens have in London policing system. He said that due to reforms in police system, not only the confidence of the people will enhance but the crime rate will also decrease.

He said that besides reforms in police system, accountability and public safety system are also essential and the members of the delegation of London Metropolitan Police should evolve a roadmap at the earliest with the consultation of senior authorities of Punjab government.

He said that technical assistance of London Metropolitan Police will be welcomed for ensuring security of cities with the help of latest technology. He said that Safe Cities Project is of key importance and the project will be implemented with the assistance of Britain.

Shahbaz Sharif said that he will personally monitor Safe Cities Project and the programme of reforms in police system. The members of the delegation of Metropolitan Police Service said that they is ready to extend full assistance for reforms in police system and Safe Cities Project in accordance with the vision of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Inspector General Police Punjab, Secretary Home and concerned officers were also present on the occasion.
