Punjab government to observe “Martyrs Week” from December 10 to 16

Zaeem QadriLahore: Spokesman Punjab government, Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri has said that on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Punjab government has announced to observe “Martyrs Week” from December 10 to 16 to pay homage to the martyrs of Army Public School.

A special function will be held on December 12 in the provincial metropolis which will be participated by Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Pak-Army, police, parents of Shaheed children, injured children, elected representatives, lawyers, organizations, trader’s community and journalists.

On this occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif will make important announcements regarding martyrs and national action plan. Various functions will be held at district and divisional level. The war against terrorism will continue till victory. Government, Pak-Army and people are united to root out terrorism.

He expressed these views while addressing a press conference at 180-H Model Town, today. Secretary Higher Education Irfan Ali, Secretary Information Momin Agha, DGPR Jahangir Anwar and Additional Secretary Schools were also present on the occasion.

Zaeem Qadri told that cabinet committee on law and order has arranged a number of programmes jointly with civil and police administration of the province which include holding of seminars, walks, poetry, speech and essay writing contests and pictorial exhibition.

These functions will continue the whole week. Similarly, city parade will be held in all big cities of the province which will be participated by people belonging to all schools of thought. Families of martyrs will be invited in the functions to be held on December 16 and Fateha will be offered for departed souls.

Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri said that those involved in killing of innocent children of Army Public School will be made an example. He said that Pakistani nation sacrificed more than 50 thousand precious human lives in the war against terrorism which also include five thousand army and police officers and officials.

He said that under national action plan, Punjab government under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has taken comprehensive and solid steps for elimination of terrorism which include geo tagging of seminaries, coordinated system of intelligence, special protection unit, dolphin police, safe city project and reforms in educational syllabus.

He said that Punjab government first of all constituted counter terrorism force. He said that amendments have been made in tenants’ act, loudspeaker act, displaying of weapons, wall chalking, written material, provocative speeches and registered 48617 cases on violation of these laws and 53151 persons arrested.

Similarly, 205 books and CDs, 262 magazines, 17078 pamphlets containing sectarian and hatred material were confiscated. He said that cases were registered against 73 persons while 93 persons were arrested while taking action against those providing financial assistance to terrorists and their facilitators.
