The civil society to apprise the people to vote who served them: Ch Pervaiz Elahi

Ch Pervaiz ElahiLahore: Different delegations of the civil society called on Pakistan Muslim League (PML) senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi at his residence here today.

Appreciating the services of the civil society, Ch Parvez Elahi said that raising voice for the rights of women, children, labour, & common man and highlighting dark aspects of the society is highly commendable.

He said that during his tenure as the Chief Minister of the province, provision of free medicines in the hospitals, free emergency, free education, free text books, establishment of the Consumer Courts, Child Protection Bureaus, legislation for child beggars, stipend for the special children and free pick and drop service and other 172 institutions were established for public welfare and service. He regretfully mentioned that present rulers instead of carrying forward our welfare works closed these down, thus the rulers committed enmity with the common man not with us.

He said further that we had provided free medical service to lawyers, established colonies for journalists, we did not start any work without proper planning but Sharifs have not overcome the lust for vengeance as such “I appeal to the civil society to apprise the people that they should cast votes to elect only those who have experience of service”.

Leader of the delegation Mumtaz Begum while submitting some recommendations said that regarding children the Child Protection Act should be changed, violence on women be checked and stopped, minorities fundamental rights be changed and legislation be done for home worker women besides 33 per cent women’s representation in the local bodies and women 10 per cent political parties’ tickets.

She pointedly mentioned that during tenure of Ch Parvez Elahi, the civil society was working freely but present rulers by imposing ban have deprived the people of their rights.
