Lahore: In order to expedite the investigation process in murder cases and to improve the performance of Homicide Investigation Units established for the purpose, decision to provide single cabin vehicle to each unit’s incharge was finalized today in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera at Central Police Office, Lahore.
It was further decided to enhance the capacity and working of these homicide investigation units, an RPO Conference in this regard will be held within next week.
Addl: IGP Establishment Punjab, Nasim-ul-Zaman, Addl: IGP Training, Capt. (R) Usman Khattak, Addl: IGP Operations, Capt. (R) Arif Nawaz, Addl: IGP PHP, Dr. Arif Mushtaq, DIG Investigation Ch. Shafique Gujjar, DIG SPU, Tariq Nawaz Malik, DIG Headquarters, Farooq Mazhar, DIG PHP Suleman Chaudhry, DIG I.T Shahid Hanif and other senior police officers of CPO attended the meeting.
On this occasion AIG Finance Hussain Habib Imtiaz told the IGP that all districts have been provided computers and cameras to ensure the photographs and fingerprints of the arrested criminals in each district.
While briefing, regarding the progress of the Complaint Handling Center (CHC) in CPO, AIG Complaints, Khurram Shah told the IGP that all the arrangements have been completed for call recordings of complainants received through telephone.
Progress regarding various projects including installation of bio-metric system, computerization of human resource, promotion of driver constables, and enhancement of training capacity or training centers were reviewed in detail.
Later, the 31 probationer ASPs of 42nd Study Tour Programme along with 7 staff members met the IGP in CPO.
While answering the questions of the participants, IGP said that among 709 police stations of the Punjab, 76 will be upgraded during this financial year which is a record. He also told that Punjab police have started a record I.T based schemes through which not only the record management would be streamlined but also it would enable them to overcome the issues of corruption, transfer / postings and promotions.
Mushtaq Sukhera in a question told the participants that the department is giving top priority to welfare projects. He said that if some officer / official died during the service, his widow can get 5 to 10 thousand rupees welfare allowance and one thousand per child. Besides, their children can get admission in all public universities, medical and professional colleges.
